What To Expect

Try to book your appointment at least 24 hours in advance to allow for some planning and preparation. Since showers are required before and after floating, it's best to wear loose clothing and arrive without wearing additional make-up and or products. We provide towels, soaps, and room slippers (you are welcome to bring your own towels if you require extra). No swimsuits needed, it can be a distraction on your skin, our biggest sensory organ.

Those that are prone to motion sickness or car sickness may get nauseous in the tank due to movements of the head and torso which can alter reflexes of the eyes and inner ear and affect equilibrium - especially if you are in complete darkness. Even small movements can create proportionally disruptive waves within the tank. floating for most people provides a sense of pain relief and relaxation that is unparalleled. If you try it once and find that you are stomach or motion sensitive you should exit the tank immediately, it may be worth trying a second time, as it might be a simple fix such as hydrating, eating a small bite before floating, or requesting a temperature adjustment with the water or air temperature. And for a select few, floating may just not be for you.

Please arrive about 5-10 minutes before your session time if this your first float.

STEP 1

Get your mind and body ready. Here are a few pointers to help you get the most from your float session.

  • Avoid consuming caffeine several hours or as long as possible before your float - you want to be in a calm and in a relaxed state.

  • Eat a light meal about 30 minutes before your session - you don't want to be too full or have an empty stomach, this can be distracting and create slight nausea to some.

  • Avoid shaving before your appointment - freshly shaved skin can become irritated by the Epsom salts for many people, best to avoid shaving on the day of your appointment.

  • HAIR COLOR POLICY: Avoid coloring or perming your hair before floating- if hair is colored, please wait at least 14 days before your float or wash your hair at least 5 times before you float, the water may alter your hair treatment and can stain the water and tank system (those with reds, blues, purples, greens, etc. hair dyes, we require you wait at least 30+ days AND wear a tight swim cap, you provide). These hair dyes can leach out for many weeks, even months afterwards, if your hair is dyed bright colors and stains the water, you'll be responsible for the charge as noted below.

  • Temporary Spray tans: Please avoid floating until the chemicals no longer comes off on your towel at home.

  • Use the restroom before starting your float session to avoid having to get out of the pod during your float.

  • Best to come in without excess hair products, makeup, lotions, scents. Do Not Use or Add bath oils, conditioners, or any other products before getting into the pod. If a guest contaminates the pod solution, they will be required to pay the cost of clean up and refilling the pool with Epsom salts. ($1,500.00 charge, cost of the 1,000 lbs of Epsom salts, clean up, possible loss of business).

STEP 2

If this is your first time to experience float therapy, you are required to sign our new customer waiver (link can be sent to your email to sign before) and can view a short video to give you some tips on floating. Next, we ask you to change into our Pali slippers to keep your shoes dry and clean and also to prevent outside dirt from being brought into the float rooms, you can also leave your shoes outside of the room.

We'll show you our facility, give you a room orientation to go over how the Dream Pod operates, and answer any questions you may have.

At Enlighten Float, each customer gets their own private room with shower inside for privacy and quiet.

STEP 3

It's time to float!

  1. First, put in the earplugs (optional) provided and then take a quick and thorough pre-float shower to remove body oils, make-up, and other products that could affect water quality. Please save our towels and use the make-up wipes provided in the rooms to remove your make-up and not on the towels! It is recommended to float in the nude so there are less distractions on your skin.

  2. DO NOT USE own shampoos, never use conditioners/lotions BEFORE getting in the pod as they can leave chemical residues in the water. We suggest you take a cool to luke warm pre-float shower as not to raise your body temperature before getting into the pod.

  3. It's best to remove contact lenses (if applicable) and cover any cuts on your skin with ointment provided (use minimally).

  4. Slowly step into the float tank/pod and gently close the lid. This will keep the heat in but you can open it at anytime.

  5. Music will play for the first 10 minutes of your float. Green button is to turn off the light. Red button is the to ask for assistance if necessary.

  6. Gently lay back, fully relaxing your neck and shoulder muscles. Avoid splashing and making sudden movements, getting salt in your eyes or nose is uncomfortable.

  7. FLOAT - relax and focus on your breath, counting your breaths will help to calm your mind, you can also focus on a mantra or chants if you'd like.

  8. With 5 minutes remaining in the session, music will come on to ease you out of your float, this is the time to stretch and slowly come out of your float. The pump will turn on soon thereafter, this is the last call to slowly lift the lid and step out of the pod.

  9. Take a post-float shower to wash the Epsom salts off your body for it'll dry to white powder on your skin, note: Epsom salt is good for your skin and your hair!

  10. Get dressed and relax a bit in our reception area and bask in your float before you go.

Like with any practice, the more you float, the better results you will have. Experienced floaters recommend at least three floats to get the full benefits of floatation therapy. Please let us know how we can make your experience better.
